  In Amasea in the Hellespont, passion of saint Theodore, soldier, who under the Emperor Maximian, by openly confessing his Christian faith was terribly beaten, detained in jail and finally burned alive. Saint Gregory of Nyssa sings praises of this Saint, in one of his speeches.
