Saint Toribio de Mogrovejo, Bishop of Lima, that being secular, Bachelor of laws, and of Spanish origin was chosen for this site and went to America where, inflamed in apostolic zeal, visited on foot several times the extensive diocese, supplied after the flock he entrusted, lashed out at synods abuses and scandals in the clergy, defended bravely the Church and catechized and converted native peoples, until finally in Saña, of the Peru, he rested in the Lord.
