Saint Porphyrius

In Gaza, Palestine, saint Porphyrius, Bishop, who, born in Thessalonica, lived as a hermit in Scete for five years, and many others on the other side of the Jordan, being famous for his kindness towards the poor. Made bishop of Gaza, he had demolished many temples of idols, whose supporters made life difficult until he rested venerable with the Saints. Roman martyrology
