Blessed Urban II pope

In Rome, in the basilica of St. Peter, blessed Urban II, Pope, who defended the freedom of the Church from meddling by the laity, fought against the clerics simoniacos and unworthy and, at the Council of Clermont, called the Christian soldiers, with the sign of the cross, released their Christian brethren from the oppression of infidels and regain the tomb of the Lord which was his power.
