  • Saint Polycarp

    Memory of Saint Polycarp, Bishop and martyr, disciple of St. John and the last witness of the Apostolic times, who at the time of the emperors under Antoninus and Lucius Aurelius Commodus, when he was already nearly ninety years old, was burned alive in the Amphitheater of Smyrna, in Asia, in presence of the proconsul and the people, while giving thanks to God the Father for having counted him among the martyrs and participate in the cup of Christ (c. 155).
