Saint Gregory the Great Pope

September 3rd VII century

Memory of saint Gregory the Great or Gregory I, Pope and doctor of the Church, who being still monk was already in papal legacy in Constantinople and later, on such day, elected Roman Pontiff. He arranged temporary problems and, as servant of the servants, attended to spiritual care, showing as a true shepherd in the Government of the Church, helping the needy on way, encouraging the monastic life and spreading and reaffirming faith everywhere, for which wrote many famous works on moral and pastoral issues.
