Born in Switzerland (today Germany) in the 12th century. He was Abbot of the Benedictine monastery of Zwiefalten in the region of Württemberg between 1141 and 1146. Resigned to fight the second crusade. He preached in Persia and Arabia. He is captured by the Saracens, tortured and died in Mecca in 1148 martyr. Roman martyrology
