In the monastery of Rievaulx, also in Northumbria (today-England), St. Elred, Abbot, who, educated in the Court of the King of Scotland, entered the Cistercian order, being excellent master of the monastic life and promoting constant and smoothly, with their example and their writings, spiritual life and friendship in Christ (c. 1166).
