Saint Charles Lwanga and companions

June 3rd XIX century

Memory of the Saint Charles Lwanga and twelve companions, all aged between fourteen and thirty years old, that belonging to the noble young or to the guards of King Mwanga, and being neophytes or followers of the Catholic faith, by not yielding to impure desires of the monarch they died in Hill Namugongo, beheaded or burned alive. These are their names: Mbaya Tuzinde, Bruno Seronuma, Jacobo Buzabaliao, Kizito, Ambrosio Kibuka, Mgagga, Gyavira, Achilles Kiwanuka, Adolfo Ludigo Mkasa, Mukasa Kiriwanvu, Anatolius Kiriggwajjo and Lucas Banabakintu.
