Saint Benedict of Nursia

July 11th VI century

Feast of Abbot Saint Benedict, principal Patron of Europe, that having been born in Nursia, was educated in Rome and then embraced the eremitical life in the region of Subiaco, finding himself soon surrounded by many disciples. After a time, he moved to Casino, where he founded a famous monastery and composed a Regia that spread everywhere, so he deserved to be called "Patriarch of the monks of the West".
