Saint Augustine of Hippo

August 28th V century

Memory of St. Augustine, Bishop, and eminent doctor of the Church, who, after a restless adolescence by doctrinal issues and free customs, converted to the Catholic faith and was baptized by Saint Ambrose of Milan. Returning to his homeland, he led an ascetic life and dedicated to the study of the Scriptures with some friends. Later elected Bishop of Hippo, in Africa, being model for his flock, he instructed with abundant sermons and writings, and also fought bravely against the errors of his time and lit up the straight faith with wisdom.
