In Ashkelon, in Palestine, Saints Ares, Promo and Elias, martyrs, who, wanting to leave Egypt to Cilicia to visit and help the confessors of Christ in the persecution unleashed by the Emperor Maximinian, were imprisoned in Caesarea, got destroyed the eyes and feet, and they were taken to Ashkelon by order of the prefect Firmilian, where Ares was burned alive and the others beheaded thus causing martyrdom.
